Final Blog

So I have been trying to blog through out this whole semester. I suck at it. I was never good at getting on every week to blog when life got busy I never took the time to do it. I wish I would have been better at blogging. IT seems like it helps me get out some frustrations that I really need to get out.

This class was a lot of fun. I learned a lot but am glad that I am done. I can't wait to go back to being a "normal" high schooler. Normal can have many different meanings to it. I will be going back to high school full time. I will graduate in spring and will then go to college at MNSU in Mankato. I am very excited to get away from some of the people in my small town. I will love how everyone won't know everything about me and I can pretty much start over with just a few friends. I hope to keep in touch with my close frineds who I will miss dearly.

I say goodbye to blogging (for now that is).

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving makes us think about what we are thankful for. I am thankful for so many things in my life. The main thing I am thankful for is my parents and family. I would not be anywhere if I didn't have my parents. They got a house for me, they got clothes for me and they got food for me. They took me to all my dance classes when I was sure I wanted to be a dancer when I grew up (which is not my dream anymore). They believed in me and got me through so many things in life. I give huge props to my mom for helping me through my very "dramaric" life. I blow things way out of proportion and she helps me deal through the hard stuff. Another huge props to my dad for dealing with the drama.

I am also very thankful for my friends who have been there through so much. You always know who your true friends are when they are the ones that will step up in a hard time.

I am thankful for all the "material" stuff I have but those aren't as important. I know people who have way less than I do and I feel bad when I have so much more than them.

Favorite Songs

So I love looking up quotes and I also love listening to music. Those 2 things are what get me through my day and escape the bad things in life. I don't have a horrible life but I do have issues and drama, everyone does. Sometimes it may be friends and sometimes it may be medical things. It may also be just life in general that is causing stress.

Right now I have 3 favorite songs that mean a lot to me. The first one is Just the Way YOu are by Bruno Mars. This is one of my favorite songs because it is something a girl would love to have a guy say to her. I haven't had any serious relationships yet but I do know what it feels like.
My next favorite song is Grenade also by Bruno Mars. This song is the total opposite of Just the Way YOu Are. This song is about how you would do anything for this person because you love them but they will do nothing for you. I know how this feels for sure. It has a lot of feeling in this song and that is why I love it.
My last favorite song is Firework by Katy Perry. This song is about how you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Barbie Doll

I think the cause and effect essay barbie doll really stuck out to me.

I think kids and teenagers think so much about the perfect body. They want to be skinny and have the perfect face with long hair in radient colors. That is what everyone thinks is "beautiful". It isn't true. Many people are beautiful just the way they are. You don't have to be skinny or have long hair. People with curves are just as beautiful. Everyone is beautiful their own way. Teenagers have to deal so much with peer pressure and looks. So many people have gotten sick or committed suicide because they are made fun of. It isn't right. People shouldn't want to end their life just because someone doesn't think they look right.

Beauty should be what is inside of you not what you look like. It should be based on personality and what you do. More and more people realize that when they get older but some don't live long enough to be able to make this realization. We all should think about that next time we go to say that girl is ugly or he isn't hot. Words hurt people, the may not show it but it does.

Functional and Dysfunctional Families

I think all families have elements of functional and dysfunctional. Some may have more of one or the other. No families are perfect. They might look perfect to you but you don't know what happens behind closed doors. Families may fight and scream at eachother when they are at home. They also may just get on each others nerves. These may be small but may be large to some people.

Fighting tears a family apart an it is something anyone outside the family may not know about. Fighting between sibling is hard on the family but the wosrt is the fighting of parents. Some couples feel that they may need to stay together just for the kids, so they don't have to move around. Sometimes the parents staying together is harder on the kids than fighting and this is just one element of dysfunctional families.

Families can be dysfunctional for many reasons. They may have their good days and that is what makes them a functional family. The days they aren't fighting and are all getting along is the element of a functional family.

Another Awesome Quote

So after looking at quotes I found another very inspiring quote.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain."

~unknown

This quote stood out to me for so many reasons. It stood out because this summer with all the rain we had. My friend and I would dance int the rain all the time. It was one of those things you could just have fun and had no care. It brought back so many memories. One memorie was when we were at a Johny Holmes concert for the fair and we were outside. Toward the end of the concert it started pouring. We all just stood there and enjoyed the rain as we danced to the song "Rain is a good thing" by Luke Bryan.

This quote also stood out to me by the meaning behind it. It is pretty much saying we need to take advantage of what we have. It may not always be the best thing but you still need to make the best out of it. I think about this on a daily basis and try to live by this quote.

Social Networking

Our world is so based on computer and internet now. Many people don't realize how muche we base our lives on the computer. It is unusual to find a house without computer let alone internet. A lot of people I know have more than one computer also.

Another very popular thing on other than internet is social networking sites. These include Facebook, Myspace, and Bebo. I have a facebook, and Myspace. I don't ever use my Myspace, the main one I use is Facebook. I use facebook for many different things. I use it to keep in touch with my friends all over the country, but mainly all over Minnesota. I went to Washington, DC and met some pretty awesome people from all over the country.

I also use facebook to see what everyone from around my school is up to. I also see what my family is up to. So many people I know have a facebook. My mom, dad, grandma, cousins, and even the girl I nanny for has Facebook. It has sweeped the nation and the people that get keep getting younger and older.

My Crazy Week

So this week was really crazy for me. All week I have been dealing with tests and papers. That was Monday and Tuesday. Monday night I had also gone to the Twins game. It was a lof of fun! That was alright for me Wednesday was going pretty good until it started down pouring on my way to work, the week just got crazy from there. I didn't think anything of the rain until I woke up to the wet vacuum going the next morning. There was water in my basement and we were trying to control it so it didn't damage anything. I then went to school to find out that they were pulling kids out of school to sandbag local stores and houses so they didin't get a lot of damage. Incase you didn't know I live in Zumbrota, so the Zumbro River cuts right through town and it always floods. Well I got home from school helped clean everything up in my basement. I had one of my friends stay over because she lives in Pine Island and couldn't get home, everything was shut down.

We were hanging out and then she went to play practice. A minute after she left I got a couple texts from people saying that there was a shooting just down the street from my house and that the guy who shot the person was walking around town. The texts also said to lock your doors and don't leave home. I got freaked because my friend was driving right past where it happened. We didn't know any details about it. They finally caught the guy and everything was fine. None of the people were from Zumbrota we later found out.

After all that got cleared up we decided to go downtown to see how high the water was. I have never seen it so high. It was amazing. The sandbags that the football players did really saved some of the stores. We were trying to keep up to date with what was going on in Pine Island, we saw pictures and were amazed as to how bad it was there.

We woke up the next day to no school, and my friend found out that she could get home. So it was a happy end to a bad two days.
.

My grandma!

I still have both of my grandmas around, I was too young to remember my grandpas.
There are many things that I think of when I think of my grandmas.

Maternal Grandma

  • Old fashion
  • Perfumes that is are a little more strong
  • Food around christmas time
  • No computer

Paternal Grandma
  • High Tech
  • Flower smells
  • Homemade food smells and tastes
  • Scrapbook

There are so many things that they remind me of that I never would have thought about, and realize I would miss if they were gone. I love them both very much and love spending time with them.

Favorite Quote

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." ~Brian Littrell

I have several favorite quotes, many are about dance. I have been a dancer since I was three and those are the quotes that normally catch my attention but this one I had seen on a decorative board in a store and I felt like it was meant for me. I have always felt that the dance ones were the ones that were meant for me but this one stood out more then any of them.

This quote means that I should always go for dreams that I don't think I can reach. I know that if I reach these dreams I will feel amazing for it. If I don't reach those dreams I will still reach many dreams that I want but I shouldn't feel bad about it.

My Writing and Education Experiences :)

I don't have much formal writing experiences. I have taken many classes in high school to help me with my writing skills. I have taken one class in high school that it's main focus was writing and how to write a five paragraph essay. In this class we learned about rhetorical strategies and stuff like that. I enjoyed the class and that made me really excited for this class.

I don't have much education experiences other than elementary, middle and high school. My junior year (last year) I took two college classes (AP). One was english and compisition, the other one was Stats. these two classes were the ones that you have to take a test at the end to get college credits. I didn't do very good on these test, so no college credits for me...

Introduction!

So this is my first time blogging. I don't normally blog because I never know what to say so here it goes!

Hi, my name is Ashlee. I am a senior at ZMHS. I am also a PSEO student at RCTC. Next year I hope to go to Mankato and major in Chemistry.

I am a very busy person. I have two part time jobs during the school year and one full time job in the summer. My full time job in the summer is nannying. I take care of two girls in the summer. They keep me busy with all their activities. This job will turn into one of my part time jobs during the school year. My other part time job is assisting at the local dance studio. I love this job because I get to work with little kids and also get to dance.

I also like to go out and have some fun with my friends. We love to go to movies or just hang out at our houses. If I am not with my friends I am normally texting them. My family makes fun of me because I text too much. I love music, listening to music is one of my favorite things. I also love dance. I have taken some kind of dance classes since I was 3 years old! I have taken ballet, jazz, lyrical, and tap. I now only take tap, which is my favorite.

That is my busy life!
